The Opportunity

Kolk Farms Ltd. is looking for a skilled and dependable Heavy Duty Mechanic to keep our fleet of farm machinery, trucks, trailers, and specialized agricultural equipment running at peak efficiency. Reporting to the Shop Manager, you will play a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime and supporting daily farm and feedlot operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and thrives in a fast-paced, rural agricultural environment.

Location: Iron Springs, AB

Key Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate with the shop manager to schedule service work, prioritize repairs, and support maintenance planning to reduce operational disruptions.
  • Perform scheduled service and maintenance on remote equipment (generators/gearboxes/hydraulic systems)
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on construction equipment/ agricultural tractors / highway trucks / light vehicles and trailers.
  • Perform diagnostics on electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Develop cost estimates, quote parts, and help manage inventories of critical parts.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to prioritize in a busy work environment.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Journeyman ticket in heavy duty equipment preferred however, for the right person, we would also hire an apprentice
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean drivers abstract. Class 1 or 3 license considered an asset
  • 1+ years in an agricultural mechanic role
