Job description

The R&D Clinical Research Team is seeking a highly motivated Oncology Senior Veterinary Clinical Research Manager with experience in companion animal oncology research. The successful candidate will be energetic, inquisitive, and thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

This is a regionally-located role requiring 1 week/month to be onsite at our Westbrook, ME Corporate Headquarters.

This cross-functional role integrates medical and scientific expertise to establish the clinical utility of novel diagnostic biomarkers for cancer detection in companion animals. You will collaborate with Discovery, Development, Medical Affairs, and Business Partners on study design, analysis, and interpretation - while building external networks, managing collaborative studies, and driving publication and conference presence to support product commercialization. Your expertise in cancer biology, disease pathophysiology, and biomarker development in a phase-gated environment will be essential, and you will serve as the go-to resource for medical and scientific consultation shaping the future of veterinary oncology diagnostics.

What you will do:

  • You will plan, execute, and report Clinical Research studies with rigorous attention to detail, documentation, and critical thinking.

  • You will establish and approve scientific protocols for external collaborative research.

  • You will conduct medical and scientific review of biomarker testing results to support diagnostic algorithm development.

  • You will engage Key Opinion Leaders through conferences, presentations, and publications to demonstrate clinical utility of novel oncology diagnostics.

  • You will use data and metrics to evaluate clinical utility and enhance customer experience.

  • You will monitor developments in oncology, diagnostics, and the regulatory environment to inform research strategy.

  • You will collaborate across R&D and business functions to exchange information and ensure efficient processes.

  • You will supervise Clinical Research Team members and, where applicable, manage staff and evaluate results.

What you need to succeed:
  • DVM, PhD, or equivalent combination of medical and scientific training with companion animal expertise.

  • Prior clinical research experience; peer-reviewed publication track record preferred.

  • Industry experience preferred.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences across all organizational levels and serve as an external spokesperson.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel; ability to oversee laboratory bench and instrumentation work and handle veterinary and human clinical samples.

  • Accountable, detail-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable.
