Job Summary
 Are you calm under pressure, compassionate with animals, and great with people? Join our fast-paced veterinary emergency team and make a difference when pets need it most. We are seeking a compassionate Veterinarian Assistants/receptionist-CSR Part-time to join the team at our Newly constructed and opening high quality veterinary emergency hospital in Watkinsville, Georgia . Veterinary Technician/Assistant as such you will work closely with the entire clinic staff to ensure the health and well-being of all of our pet patients. If you are passionate about providing exceptional animal care, we’d like to meet you.
Responsibilities 
  • Answer phones and triage calls based on urgency (recognize emergencies vs. routine)
  • Greet clients and patients with empathy and professionalism
  • Check patients in/out and manage medical records
  • Assist veterinary staff with patient restraint and basic care
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness of treatment areas
  • Communicate updates and wait times updates effectively
  • Handle payments and estimates
  • Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic
  • Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history
  • Take vital signs and acquire blood samples
  • Assist doctors and other staff members with the administration of medications and with patient restraint
  • Perform sample collection and run laboratory tests
  • Restrain animals safely
  • Help with basic treatments (cleaning wounds, setting up supplies)
  • Monitor hospitalized patients
  • Clean/disinfect exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Assist with surgeries and monitor animals after surgery
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, and machines, etc.
  • Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients
  • Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications
  • Assists veterinarians with a variety of emergency procedures and critical care situations
  • Communicate in a positive manner with clients
  • Calm and soothe anxious patients
  • Keep accurate patient records
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is a benefit
  • Knowledge of animal care and handling preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable working with animals of all sizes and temperaments
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous veterinary or animal experience preferred but not required
  • Customer service experience (especially high-stress environments)
  • Ability to stay calm in  high-stress, emotional situations- emergencies
  • Comfort around animals (including injured/aggressive ones)
  • Excellent communication skills, uses effective and appropriate methods of interacting with others
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment
  • Patience and a love for animals
  • Team Orientation - works cooperatively with the team to address tasks and accomplish goals
  • Dependability - demonstrates responsibility in completing all job tasks
  • Cleanliness Standards - consistently follows sanitization and sterilization policies and procedures

 Availability to work overnight shift hours between hours of  6:00 PM – 8:00 AM,  including weekend full availability,  and holidays
Shifts will vary from 4hr to 8 hr shifts ,  Weekend and holiday availability is a MUST.
