Job description

Senior Accountant
The Company
CareVet is a network of veterinary hospitals that focuses on acquiring and managing best-in-class hospitals throughout the United States. We look for veterinary practices that are staples of their community. Whether it’s one hospital or a dozen, we focus on the standard of care delivered, the level of engagement from the team and the record of stability. We are building a network of the top hospitals, doctors and staff.
CareVet’s mission is to provide the very best care for pets. Our holistic approach to veterinary medicine focuses on practice legacy, team, veterinarians, patients and community.
The Role
The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to the accounting team, supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and the integration of newly acquired hospitals. This role is ideal for someone transitioning from public accounting who is looking to apply a strong technical foundation in a high-growth, operational environment.
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this individual will take ownership of key close processes and gain exposure well beyond a traditional corporate accounting role, including consolidation, acquisition accounting, and cross-functional business initiatives. You will partner closely with leadership and teams across the organization, contributing directly to financial performance and strategic growth in a fast-paced environment with a more sustainable cadence than public accounting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own key components of the month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and support monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow
  • Assist with financial consolidation across a growing portfolio of entities
  • Support purchase accounting and integration for newly acquired hospitals
  • Partner with external auditors and advisors on audit and tax compliance
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
  • Identify and implement process improvements, particularly around close efficiency and scalability
  • Support onboarding and integration of new hospitals into CareVet’s shared services model
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects, including system enhancements and process automation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives and improve financial visibility
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3–5+ years of experience, ideally in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm)
  • CPA credential
  • Strong foundation in GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with or exposure to multi-entity environments or consolidations preferred
  • ERP experience required; NetSuite preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliations, and working with large datasets
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization
Benefits:
• Competitive base salary and annual bonus opportunity
• Best-in-class health, vision, and dental insurance
• Short-term and long-term disability insurance
• 401k with match
• Paid time off
• Much more!
