Position Summary
This hands-on leadership role leads a team of commercial operators/schedulers responsible for managing 24/7 NGL movements across the USGC refining, fractionation, and export systems. In addition to guiding and developing the team, the manager remains directly engaged in day-to-day scheduling, issue resolution, and commercial operations supporting shipment volumes for the trading team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees day-to-day actions of direct reports by providing guidance, mentoring, and holding direct reports accountable.
  • Responsibilities include optimization and integration of USGC refining and midstream NGL export system.
  • Recommends and supports the training and career development programs and continuously monitors their performance.
  • Supervises commercial scheduling and management of refinery- and fractionation-produced NGLs, primarily across the USGC, including export staging to docks. Coordinates with refineries, fractionators, proprietary and third-party tankage, storage facilities, and other disposition points to support efficient terminal and pipeline movements via pipeline, ocean vessel, lightering vessel, barge, railcar, and truck.
  • Leads the finalization of nominations, fractionator/refinery balances, and product optimization. Manages upset situations, coordinates for area, summarizes needs, and makes quick decisions.
  • Supports the overall performance of planning activities utilizing scheduling platforms. Analyzes and develops the logistical plans to identify commercial opportunities on an on-going basis.
  • Controls master data (scheduling platform) for a specific area making sure that correctness, new logistic setups, applicability, and definitions are in place and follow the processes of the company and industry best practices.
  • Maintains extensive operational knowledge of each facility receipt and distribution system within respective areas of responsibility; remains current on changing operations and procedures.
  • Recommends alternative transportation plans to capitalize on synergies within MPC's supply and distribution network. Owner of inventory management and reporting for their specified areas.
  • Identifies opportunities for system improvement and works with Commercial/Business Development for enhancements.
  • Participates in the out-month planning process to ensure constraints are properly identified and longer-term projects as the operation logistics expert.
  • The focus of this role is to lead a team in optimizing product movement and strategically maximizing profitability of NGLs across Marathon's entire refining and fractionation portfolio, critically evaluating commercial terms and optionality, refining/fractionation supply and demand, and resource availability/costs.
  • This leader will work to identify processes which allow the team to maximize commercial opportunities, establish optimal movement plans and capture the most potential on our resources across the enterprise for the NGL commercial business.
  • This leader will collaborate with various internal and external counterparts, fostering relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, with the goal of providing innovative solutions to balance commercial and operational needs, providing support for changes in production/consumption plans, as well as unexpected logistical challenges and constraints.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline required
  • Eight (8) years of commercial scheduling, operations, or other related experience required.

Preferred Experience:
  • Five (5) plus years of experience and knowledge on Refinery and Fractionator operations, specifically related to NGLs commodity properties, logistics, and export requirements.
  • Strong NGLs and Feedstock Business Acumen
  • Ability to perform complex economic analysis and provide insight and recommendations
  • Strong work ethic, maintaining a respectable environment among industry peers in areas of honesty, integrity, and business knowledge.
