What is a vertical remote?

Vertical Remote jobs refer to positions that are conducted entirely remotely within a specific industry vertical, such as healthcare, finance, education, or technology. These roles allow professionals to work from anywhere while focusing on specialized fields, often requiring industry-specific skills or knowledge. Companies hire for vertical remote positions to tap into a broader talent pool and offer flexibility to their workforce, while still maintaining a focus on expertise unique to their sector.

How does working in a vertical remote role typically impact collaboration with team members across different departments?

In a vertical remote role, collaboration often relies heavily on digital communication tools and scheduled virtual meetings, as team members may work from various locations and time zones. Establishing clear communication channels and documentation practices is key to ensuring everyone stays aligned on projects and goals. You'll likely engage with colleagues from multiple departments through platforms like Slack, Zoom, or project management software, making adaptability and proactive communication essential skills. While remote work offers flexibility, it also requires intentional efforts to build relationships and maintain visibility within the organization.

To thrive as a Remote Vertical Market Manager, you need deep industry knowledge, strategic sales expertise, and a proven track record in vertical market development, often supported by a relevant degree or business certifications. Familiarity with CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and remote collaboration software is typically required. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and relationship-building skills help you stand out in this role. These abilities are crucial for identifying opportunities, driving growth, and successfully managing client relationships in a competitive, remote market environment.

Head of Sales & Marketing

Clients Blackbox, Inc.

Austin, TX โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

Clients Blackbox is a specialized Meta advertising agency that works exclusively with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and independent financial advisory firms. We build and manage Facebook advertising funnels that generate qualified, booked appointments for our clients. We serve one vertical and we do it at a level no generalist agency can match.
You will own both sales and marketing for the company. This is a hands on, individual contributor role where you run our sales process from first conversation to signed contract while also building and executing our internal marketing strategy.
On the sales side, you will take all introductory and discovery calls with inbound prospects, run strategy and pitch presentations, manage the full pipeline from first touch to close, handle objections, follow ups, proposals, and contract negotiations, and build and maintain a sales playbook, objection library, and follow up sequences.
On the marketing side, you will own and operate our internal Meta advertising campaigns, develop and execute our broader marketing strategy including content, brand positioning, and demand generation, elevate the company brand to attract larger and more established clients, and create or direct the creation of marketing assets such as ads, landing pages, case studies, and social content. You will think holistically about brand and understand how advertising fits within a larger growth strategy.
This role has a clear trajectory toward leading a sales and marketing function. As the company grows and you demonstrate results, there is an opportunity to build a team underneath you and evolve the role into a broader leadership position.
Compensation: $85,000 base salary plus performance based commission on closed business, paid quarterly. OTE is approximately $150,000 per year. Commission structure details will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.
To apply, please include a brief Loom video (3 to 5 minutes) covering: who you are and why this role interests you, a deal you personally closed that you are proud of and how you ran the process, and one observation about our current marketing after reviewing our website and social media presence. Applications without a Loom video will not be considered.
Clients Blackbox is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
Requirements
  1. 3+ years of B2B closing experience (not appointment setting or lead qualification only)
  2. Demonstrated track record of earning $125,000 or more in total compensation in a previous role, with a meaningful portion from commissions or performance based incentives
  3. Experience selling professional services with a sales cycle of approximately 2 to 6 weeks to SMB or mid market buyers
  4. Hands on experience running paid media campaigns (Meta preferred) or strong working knowledge of direct response and digital marketing
  5. Proficiency with CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred) including pipeline management, deal tracking, and reporting
  6. Comfortable operating as a sole contributor across both sales and marketing functions
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  8. Based in the United States and available during standard business hours
  9. Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Benefits
  1. $85,000 base salary plus performance based commission (OTE approximately $150,000)
  1. Fully remote position
  2. Opportunity to build and lead a sales and marketing team as the company grows
  3. Work directly with the CEO and founding team
  4. Focused, single vertical niche with strong product market fit
