Job Description:
Major Purpose
  • Performs basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project.
  • Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.
  • Develops recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation.
Major Duties
  • Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
  • Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
  • Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.

  • A Product Verification & Validation Engineer ensures that prototype components and machines meet durability and performance requirements at key stages of the Product Development Process.
Duties:
  • Decides upon appropriate tests to ensure durability and performance of new designs, developing new tests when necessary.
  • Executes test plan by conducting simple tests and assigning in-depth work to mechanics, lab engineers, field test sites, and structural analysts.
  • Leads the team through root cause investigations and data gathering when prototypes fail tests.
  • Applies mechanical and electrical engineering aptitude to assist design engineers, participate in design reviews, gather the right data, and design tests.
  • Learns company products and develops customer understanding to become a "voice of the customer" and plan tests that accurately represent customer usage.
  • Benchmarks performance and capabilities of company products against competitor products.
  • Remains highly organized while managing multiple tasks and data streams.
  • Interacts effectively with technical professionals across a variety of job roles and backgrounds, including teammates across the country or across the world.
  • Communicates technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely with peers and leadership in written and verbal forms.

  • With reduction of head count from SIRD VolSep, current staffing levels within the PVV Planning / Reliability Engineering group are not sufficient to cover all projects being proposed.
  • An additional engineer is needed to support the planning and execution of virtual analysis, laboratory testing, and field testing of prototype machines for the Commercial Mowing product family.

  • 4-year engineering degree preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Engineering student in process with immediate upcoming graduation will be considered. 1st shift position, business casual dress code.
  • Safety shoes required (internal metatarsals with no flap over laces) for the first day.
