Job description

Job Overview
The Venue Bartender creates a positive and transformative guest experience by providing professional beverage service for weddings, private rentals, and public events at Kingwood Center Gardens. This individual ensures the bar is properly prepared and operated in accordance with established service standards, event requirements, and Ohio liquor laws. They act as a hands-on hospitality team member, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, and working collaboratively with Venue Operations staff to provide a welcoming, safe, and memorable experience for guests.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures the bar is clean, stocked, and event-ready by preparing appropriate glassware, mixers, garnishes, alcoholic beverages, and service wares prior to opening
  • Interacts with guests and verifies legal age requirements before serving alcoholic beverages
  • Prepares, pours, mixes, and garnishes beverages in accordance with Ohio liquor laws, established recipes, and measurement standards
  • Delivers a guest experience consistent with the service standards of Kingwood Center Gardens
  • Dismantles and restores the bar area promptly following events while coordinating with Venue Operations team members
  • Enacts bar opening, last calls, and closures as specified in event contracts and timelines
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of continuous standing, sitting, or walking along with occasional stooping, bending, reaching, crouching
  • Must be able to move around garden in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including late evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of providing high quality service in a fast paced, distracting environment
  • Demonstrated bartending experience in the hospitality industry
  • Must possess skills to assess and handle guest situations often before an incident occurs in a professional manner
  • Must be goal-oriented, flexible, and adaptable to potential unanticipated opportunities
  • Must be able to organize workflows to ensure necessary details are captured and enacted
  • Ability to work with diverse staff and volunteers
  • Possess verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including effective presentation and problems solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and provide leadership support as required for special events
  • Ability to relate to, work with people of all ages, diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities
  • Demonstrated ability with computers and POS systems

Qualifications
  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age required
  • A high school diploma, or equivalent or higher required
  • A minimum of a year's experience bartending required
  • Possess or willing to obtain TIPS, ASK, or Serve Safe Alcohol Certification
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must pass drug test
