Chief of Staff & Apprentice to the Managing Partners

Dallas, Texas (preferred) or Austin, Texas Full Time Reporting to the Managing Partners

SPLY Capital is a relationship-first venture capital firm investing in the companies shaping the future of AI infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, robotics, energy, defense, space, and enterprise software. The Chief of Staff & Apprentice role is designed to compress years of institutional learning into a direct-mentorship experience. The successful candidate will work alongside both Managing Partners with full visibility into every dimension of building and scaling a global venture capital platform โ€” from fundraising and deal sourcing to portfolio management, investor relations, marketing, operations, and strategic partnerships.

This is far more than an administrative function. The role carries real responsibility across investment, marketing, operations, and AI workflow development, and is intended to serve as a career-defining foundation for a future founder, venture capitalist, or operator.

What You Will Do

Executive Partnership

  • Attend executive leadership meetings and document action items
  • Prepare briefing materials in advance of every meeting
  • Prioritize and coordinate strategic initiatives across the firm
  • Represent the Managing Partners during internal and external meetings when appropriate
  • Build systems and infrastructure that create operating leverage for the Managing Partners

Venture Capital

  • Participate in investment committee meetings
  • Assist with investment memos and due diligence processes
  • Track portfolio company performance and flag material developments
  • Support fundraising efforts and LP communications
  • Research industries, markets, founders, and emerging technologies
  • Assist with LP reporting and fund operations

Marketing & Brand

  • Help manage and protect the SPLY Capital brand
  • Draft LinkedIn posts, newsletters, investor updates, and thought leadership content
  • Coordinate podcast appearances, speaking opportunities, and media requests
  • Create presentation decks and fundraising materials
  • Coordinate with portfolio companies on strategic announcements

AI & Automation

  • Build AI workflows that improve firmwide efficiency
  • Creating internal operating systems using AI tooling
  • Automate repetitive processes across investment, marketing, and operations
  • Continuously evaluate new AI tools for implementation across the platform

Operations

  • Organize executive offsites and investor events
  • Build repeatable internal operating systems and improve documentation
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives as directed by the Managing Partners
