Job description

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an Entry-Mid Level candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Software Validation Engineer
The Software Validation Engineer will support the integration, verification, and validation of autonomous vehicle hardware and software systems. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system requirements are met, software releases are successfully integrated into machine platforms, and validation activities are completed to support safe, reliable product performance. The position combines systems engineering, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Autonomy Systems integration engineers to ensure the product architecture requirements are fulfilled.
  • Work with Technical program managers and Application Architects to ensure that program requirements are being met (time, cost, quality).
  • Ensure that base machine software changes are delivered on time for command for hauling releases. These can be NPI and CPI solutions depending on the state of the program.
  • Support Field data collection kits activities, including design support, procurement, shipping to site, and data collection.
  • Document architecture specifications, software design description, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.
  • Assist in the verification and validation process, including supporting/troubleshooting hardware in the loop and proving ground test and development.
  • Participate in design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic platforms.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in software validation, systems integration, embedded systems, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience developing and executing verification and validation plans, test procedures, and test documentation.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycles, system integration, and requirements management processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in development, lab, or field environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including software, systems, controls, and program management.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, off-highway equipment, robotics, machine control systems, or embedded software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), data collection, and test automation tools is preferred.
