Duties
Help
  • Drives passenger buses regardless of gross vehicle weight and various types of trucks such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks weighing from 26,000 to 32,000.
  • Assists with loading and unloading cargo and materials. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo papers and by visual observation. Completes trip tickets and preventive maintenance service records.

  • Fills out driver's accident report in case of accident. Performs driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.

  • Drives outside in all kinds of weather in all types of traffic at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
  • Exposed to dirt and fumes, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
  • All required pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation and physical examination.
  • This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
  • As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.
  • This position is covered by the DA Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • Incumbent must be available to work shifts during the week to include, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License or CDL to operate a government vehicle with a capacity for transporting 24 passengers is required.
  • Skill and Knowledge: Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of vehicle in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance. Knowledge of safety rules and traffic regulations.
  • Selected applicant must successfully pass a Medical Physical Examination.

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
  • Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools.
  • Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.
  • Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle OR requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle.

**HS Diploma and valid Driver's license must be uploaded in order to receive consideration in meeting qualifications.**

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
