Job Summary:

Provide safe transportation and operations of ambulances and other vehicles while abiding by all state laws. At times this may involve assisting MCES or other staff members with additional tasks as requested.


Knowledge of customer service. Knowledge of standard vehicle operating procedures. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions. Ability to log and record information. Basic computer skills. Ability to follow safety, environmental, and/or infection control practices. Ability to lift heavy objects. Ability to interpret and follow paper based maps. Ability to utilize GPS devices to follow a route to and from a destination. Ability to safely operate large emergency vehicles at interstate speeds during poor weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transports passengers via stretcher, isolette and wheelchair; transports items to various locations, ensuring proper care of items handled during transport.
  • Assists in unloading, moving, and/or setting up materials, equipment, stretcher, and/or isolette.
  • Assists with non-invasive medical tasks such as taking vitals signs and/or preparing medical equipment within the individuals scope of training.
  • Maintains applicable records and documentation; prepares and maintains accurate transportation logs, vehicle consumption logs, and other relevant data as required.
  • Ensure that vehicles, and all associated equipment are clean and ready for use.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and/or infection control practices.
  • Operates communication devices needed to perform the missions of MCES.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, constant travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, frequent driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)

Requirements:

Education & Experience

High school diploma/GED. Completion of a pre-employment drug screen required.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Valid driver's license required. MS EMS drivers license within 2 weeks of hire. Emergency vehicles operations certifications within 2 weeks of hire, BLS healthcare provider within 6 months of hire.
