Job description

The Inventory Clerk assists with accurately recording shipments and other transactions affecting stock, and with preparing shipping papers and inventory reports. The Inventory Clerk will also assist with scheduling periodic inspections and inventories to ensure the quality of storage areas and accurate counts.Additional duties may be assigned to facilitate additional recordkeeping, database maintenance, and document review.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain 100% accurate inventory of dangerous goods
  • Accurately input data into CargoWise, such as shipment details and product records
  • Validate packing lists, pick lists, putaway sheets, bills of lading, other shipping documents for accuracy; review filled forms for annotated discrepancies.
  • Publish shipping documents for the company, archive both digital and hardcopy formats
  • Communicate with carriers, dispatch, and truck drivers; escort drivers using company vehicles to their respective buildings
  • Inspect trucks and trailers for acceptable quality, inspect packages for shipment readiness
  • Assist in scheduling freight appointments by email and phone
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and professionalism to customers, forwarders, and carriers
  • Store, file, and organize records in a timely and organized manner
  • Maintain copies of required forms
  • Forecast office supply needs, make small purchases for the office
  • Assist in conducting physical inventories of products as needed
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as requested


Requirements

  • Impeccable attention to detail; strong reading comprehension and writing skills required
  • Microsoft Office experience required
  • CargoWise experience or SQL database familiarity preferred
  • Background check and drug screening required
