Job Description Summary

Operates various equipment related to the planting, growing, and harvesting of product (i.e. tractor, harvester, tillage, planting equipment, lift, etc).

Job Description

  • Operates machinery for all phases of vegetable farming operations, safely and efficiently to maintain daily production goals.
  • Performs daily pre-shift inspections, records any defects or issues, and works with field mechanic to resolve any mechanical issues.
  • Accurately filling out company worksheets.
  • Troubleshoot and address equipment malfunctions and operational issues in real-time to minimize downtime.
  • Performs general maintenance, repairs, and services machinery as directed by supervisor.
  • Utilizes GPS system to operate machinery effectively.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)

  • Valid Drivers' License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards

Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years' experience safely operating harvester, tractor, etc. is highly preferred.
  • Basic verbal and communication skills needed.
  • Experience successfully using a GPS equipment navigating system preferred.

Physical Environment/Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to an outdoor environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature
  • Exposure to outdoor farming environment for up to 14+ hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies
  • Ability to sit and turn back for long periods of time as well as do other movements required for job actions and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.Ability to operate work related equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders to enter equipment on a regular basis
