Job Overview:

We are seeking a full-time AVP, Edge Security Engineer to join the Network & Security Engineering team within LPL's Technology Platform Automation & Cloud Engineering organization. This role is responsible for architecting, building, and supporting enterprise-level edge infrastructure and security controls. You will also develop and maintain technical designs, documentation, and architecture artifacts aligned with security and infrastructure standards.

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of security and operations experience in a fast-paced, 24/7 enterprise environment, along with the ability to independently drive projects. This role collaborates across engineering teams, business units, and partners to deliver scalable, secure solutions that protect LPL's edge.

This role reports to the VP II of Network & Security Engineering and plays a key role in shaping LPL's edge security strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, build, and support highly available, secure, and scalable edge infrastructure

  • Partner with Enterprise and Security Architecture teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise security standards

  • Perform continuous edge threat hunting and mitigation

  • Define and implement edge security infrastructure standards to drive automation, scale, and consistency

  • Improve availability, security, and observability while closing control gaps across edge environments

  • Conduct research and proof-of-concepts (POCs) to evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-driven solutions

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams and business stakeholders to deliver secure, customer-focused solutions

  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting availability, security, and performance incidents

What are we looking for?

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise edge infrastructure and security controls using CDN platforms such as Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai, etc

  • 4+ years' hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana)

  • 3+ years' hands-on experience with global load balancing (GLB) solutions (e.g., NS1, AWS Route 53, UltraDNS, Cloudflare Load Balancing)

  • 2+ years' hands-on experience managing enterprise DNS solutions (e.g., Infoblox, BIND)

  • 2+ years' experience building infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Go

  • 4+ years' experience collaborating with development teams and project/program managers to architect and deliver infrastructure solutions

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining secure web proxy solutions (e.g., Netskope, Zscaler)

  • Experience managing cloud-delivered security services (e.g., Cisco Umbrella)

  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing Network Detection and Response (NDR) solutions (e.g., ExtraHop, Vectra, Corelight, Darktrace)

  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP Security, PCNSE, NSE)

  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, and Microsoft 365

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

  • Hands-on experience building and supporting enterprise load balancing platforms (e.g., F5 LTM, Citrix NetScaler, Avi/NSX ALB)

Pay Range:

$122,570.00 - $204,249.00
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
