Central Garden & Pet Company is a leading innovator, marketer and producer of quality branded products for the pet, lawn and garden supplies markets.  Our Central Life Sciences business unit Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ:CENT and CENTA), is a leading innovator, marketer and producer of quality branded products for the pet, lawn and garden supplies markets.  Our Central Life Sciences Zoecon Professional Products team is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to cover the mosquito control business in the Great Lakes area. This is a remote, home-office based field sales position.  Desirable candidates will most likely be based in/around the Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, or Indianapolis, IN areas with easy access to a metro airport. 
 
The Central Life Sciences Structural Pest Control and Vector business (Zoëcon Professional Products) is focused on delivering insect management solutions in the professional mosquito control market and the professional structural pest control market.  The primary responsibility for this position is to expand current sales and drive new account revenue for the ZPP business. This will be accomplished through key agents, distributors and end-users in the mosquito control market. The successful candidate will be required to implement sales processes in order to build a solid sales base with total focus on mosquito control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Implement company sales and marketing directives and achieve sales plans 
  • Develop and maintain account base through strategic sales efforts including customer training and industry trade shows 
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts for all assigned segments 
  • Create and execute account specific programs designed to achieve profitable sales volume 
  • Optimize distribution and account coverage 
  • Work seamlessly with management team to deliver tactical sales results 
  • Create and present sales, educational and training program and presentations 
  • Account Management and Development - Acts as primary Central Life Sciences representative for assigned accounts; takes responsibility for ensuring that account information is complete and current 
  • Information Management - Gathers or supervises the collection of all relevant industry information, with emphasis on key account information and reports regularly on competitive, regulatory, technical and other developments that affect Central Life Sciences products and services 
  • Program Execution - Ensures that program information is communicated to assigned customers in accurate and timely manner. 
  • Industry Involvement - Attends key industry functions, including conventions, seminars and meetings and also maintains active involvement in industry associations, serving on association committees as appropriate  
QUALIFICATIONS:             
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding budget quotas 
  • Experience in independently managing large accounts  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Good interpersonal, strong leadership and motivational skills 
  • Possess persistence and resilience 
  • Possess the ability to deal with ambiguity 
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills 
  • Well developed oral, written communication, and presentation skills are required 
  • Possess the ability to generate and foster relationships with customers 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a sales team and able to manage sales representative when needed 
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint & Excel 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: 
  • BS degree required & MS degree preferred (entomology degree preferred; will consider other science related degrees, coupled with relevant work experience) 
  • 5 - 10 years work experience in the professional mosquito abatement field 
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years field sales or marketing experience in a B to B environment 
 WORKING CONDITIONS: 
  • Overnight travel 70% + frequent car and airline travel; hotel sleep accommodations. 
  • Frequent contact with key product distributors customers and branch locations. 
  • Attendance at National and State trade meetings; presentations for product training and educations to distributor, dealer and end use municipalities 
  • Home office conditions when not traveling in the field. Variation in work hours is necessary due to employee and customer schedules, special projects, deadlines, and other business activities 
POSITION INFORMATION 
This position pays $90,000 - $110,000 annually (based on experience and location) and a business travel mileage reimbursement program. This role is also eligible for a sales incentive bonus based on plan parameters and achievement of sales goals.
