Job Title: VDC Coordinator – Data Center Project

Job Description

This role focuses on providing BIM/VDC coordination for a large-scale data center project in Saline, Michigan. The VDC Coordinator will manage multi-discipline models, run clash detection, and facilitate coordination among design, construction, and field teams to ensure accurate, constructible, and compliant project delivery over an initial four-month contract that may be extended.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-discipline BIM/VDC coordination across mechanical, electrical, and process piping systems for a large data center project.
  • Run clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks and Revit to identify conflicts between disciplines.
  • Support ongoing coordination between design teams, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
  • Identify and resolve clashes and constructability issues, escalating and documenting them as needed.
  • Maintain, update, and manage BIM models to accurately reflect current field conditions and design changes.
  • Attend and actively support coordination meetings with project stakeholders, providing model-based insights and updates.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM Execution Plans and established project standards throughout the coordination process.
  • Collaborate with project teams during the construction phase to support field implementation of coordinated designs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of BIM/VDC workflows and processes by sharing observations and suggestions with project leadership.

Essential Skills

  • 3–8+ years of BIM/VDC coordination or modeling experience, ideally on complex construction projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, including model creation, modification, and coordination workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in Navisworks, including clash detection, issue tracking, and coordination review.
  • Experience supporting construction-phase coordination between design, subcontractor, and field teams.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and process piping systems in a construction environment.
  • Ability to interpret and work with construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications in a BIM/VDC context.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary project stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date models that reflect field conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical, electrical, or piping systems is preferred.
  • Experience on data center or industrial projects is a plus.
  • Previous work with BIM/VDC on large, complex facilities is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with BIM Execution Plans and project-specific standards is beneficial.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and workflows in BIM/VDC environments.
  • Comfort working within a collaborative, mentoring-focused culture that encourages knowledge sharing and innovation.
  • Willingness to travel or temporarily relocate to Saline, Michigan for the duration of the contract; per diem for hotel and food may be available for out-of-state professionals.
