Vcats, also known as Virtual Catalogers or Virtual Cataloging Technicians, are professionals who help organize, classify, and manage digital collections such as books, documents, or multimedia files in libraries, archives, and other institutions. They use specialized cataloging software and metadata standards to ensure that digital resources are easy to find and access. Vcats may work remotely and often collaborate with librarians, archivists, and IT staff to maintain and improve digital catalog systems.

What are the main challenges a vcat operator might face during daily operations and how are these typically addressed?

VCAT operators often manage complex, high-volume data and must ensure precise execution of virtual CAT (Computerized Axial Tomography) processes. A common challenge is troubleshooting technical issues with equipment or software, which requires strong problem-solving skills and close collaboration with IT and engineering teams. Effective communication and attention to detail are essential, especially when interpreting data or coordinating with other departments. Continuous training and support from experienced colleagues help new operators overcome these challenges and maintain workflow efficiency.

Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
Racing is where our story began.
In 1901, Henry Ford climbed into a car he built himself-"Sweepstakes"-and beat America's most famous driver. He wasn't a racer, but he had to win. He did. Ford Motor Company was born from that victory.
That fighting spirit lives on in Ford Racing today. We're the engineers, strategists, and competitors who bring Ford's track-tested edge into every vehicle we build. Every track, every stage, every proving ground-that's where we prove ourselves.
The result: one of the world's most iconic brands, legendary nameplates, and a team unmatched in the industry.
Our mantra: Race to win, engineer to lead.
If you're a competitor, innovator, or performance obsessive, Ford Racing is where you belong. Help us write the next chapter.
In this position...
Ford Racing is seeking a TVM & VEV Product Sign-off Supervisor to lead a Global Ford Racing team delivering disciplined cost management and rigorous product validation into this exciting new chapter of our 125-year racing legacy.
You are a Total Value Management and Vehicle Evaluation & Validation leader and subject matter expert set to drive relentless cost discipline and product integrity while pushing the limits of innovation at Ford Racing to deliver the next-generation vehicles our customers love!
You are expected to be a flexible leader who can balance multiple activities in a rapidly changing environment to guide your team through the full engineering development cycle from Pre-program through Launch on all of our Production Programs for Ford Racing!
You and your team own the execution of the TVM cost reduction process, CRID tracking, and VCAT activities, as well as the product sign-off and validation process that ensures every Ford Racing vehicle meets its performance, quality, and compliance commitments.
You will be building a team to deliver high-value, low-investment cost solutions and rigorous validation sign-off, partnering with technical experts across the company to bring new cost and validation methodologies to new and existing products for Ford Racing.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
Total Value Management (TVM)
  • Drive cost reduction execution across Ford Racing programs, leveraging the TVM process, CRID tracking, and VCAT activities to identify and implement design and product cost actions
  • Execute and facilitate the TVM process for cost reduction activities and delivery on Ford Racing programs, including:
  • Coordinating cross-functional work and managing related meeting cadence
  • Tracking CRID actions from ideation through implementation, driving for earliest possible implementation
  • Supporting VCAT events/initiatives to attack and validate cost opportunities across programs
  • Lead the planning and delivery of cross functional events and enablers to identify new cost reduction initiatives
  • Partner with the Global Material Cost Team and TVM Finance to ensure compliance with business practices for design and planned product cost actions on current and new model programs
  • Escalate issues as needed to ensure appropriate support and alignment at all levels

Vehicle Evaluation & Validation (VEV) Product Sign-off
  • Lead and own the Vehicle Evaluation & Validation product sign-off process for assigned Ford Racing programs, ensuring all systems and components meet performance, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements prior to release
  • Guide and mentor a team of engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to drive speed, rigor, and innovation in the validation and sign-off process for all Ford Racing products
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Design & Release, CAE, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams to develop and execute verification/validation plans, and sign-off documentation
  • Lead readiness reviews and gate approvals, ensuring open issues are tracked, risk-assessed, and resolved ahead of key program milestones
  • Assure conformance to Ford Racing DNA and all applicable Ford and regulatory requirements throughout the sign-off process
  • Support presentations of cost and validation status to senior management and internally to company personnel
  • Escalate issues as needed to ensure appropriate support and alignment at all levels.

Qualifications
You'll have
  • B.S. in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience in product cost management, value engineering, and/or vehicle validation/sign-off, or similar experience
  • 3+ years' experience with job responsibilities specific to Total Value Management, cost reduction execution (CRID/VCAT), and/or Vehicle Evaluation & Validation processes
  • Demonstrated expert level knowledge of design and product cost drivers, cost reduction methodologies, and validation/sign-off processes
  • Experience in all program phases from Pre-Program through Launch including one major (scale 4-6) program
  • Working knowledge of applicable Design, Analysis, Verification, Quality, Manufacturing, and Assembly methods
  • Working knowledge and experience with Engineering and cost toolsets (e.g., FEDE, CAE / CATIA, TCE, 3DX, cost estimation systems)
  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of strong leadership behaviors
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated capability to teach / coach / mentor and document technical and process knowledge
  • Self-starter - ability to work effectively with little oversight

Even better, you may have...
  • M.S./MBA in Engineering, Business, Finance or a related field of study
  • Experience with GPDS and GTDS processes, timing, and delivery requirements
  • Experience partnering with Global Material Cost Team, TVM Finance, or Purchasing organizations
  • Experience writing DFMEA's, DVP&Rs, Engineering Specifications, Requirements, Design Rules or equivalent Core documents
  • Experience leading cross-functional cost or validation workshops/events (e.g., VCAT)
  • Multiple automotive launches

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
  • Tuition assistance
  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day
  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.
