Job description

The Opportunity:
The Varonis Specialist owns and manages Varonis, a data security and identity monitoring platform, on behalf of SPHERE's client engagement. This role serves as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders on all matters related to the platform, ensuring the environment is properly monitored, maintained, and reported on in accordance with the client's security and risk management practices. The position works closely with client security and infrastructure teams to provide ongoing reporting, maintain platform health, support the onboarding of new data sources, and coordinate system updates and improvements.
Essential Functions:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Varonis DatAdvantage and DatAlert, and monitor the platform for ongoing health and performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders on Varonis and related platform requests.
  • Perform user provisioning and deprovisioning, and maintain Varonis policies and procedures.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of client environments to identify technical, financial, and reputational risk related to identity and access management.
  • Develop and implement remediation plans, prioritizing actions that mitigate risk while maintaining a controlled change management process.
  • Present risk reduction strategies and findings to the client's CSO, IAM leadership, and Infrastructure Team management.
  • Lead and coordinate remediation initiatives across cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to clients on effectively leveraging the SPHEREboard platform.
  • Assess client workflows to establish sustainable, controlled IAM environments aligned with industry standards and compliance requirements.
  • Document and evidence remediations, maintaining client runbooks and audit-ready records.
  • Prepare client stakeholders for audit reviews by validating evidence of IAM processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Track platform changes and enhancements through Jira, and maintain supporting process documentation in Confluence.
  • Collaborate with SPHERE's internal product team, providing feedback and requirements for SPHEREboard enhancements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Reports to SPHERE's Newark office three days per week, or works onsite at client locations in the New York City/Northern New Jersey area, depending on business need.
  • Hands on experience with IAM platforms and familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Varonis, Service Now, Symantec, CyberArk, Delinea, BeyondTrust, SailPoint, and others.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with advanced skills in MS Excel and MS SQL.
  • Must have Varonis admin experience 
  • In-depth understanding of infrastructure platforms like Active Directory, CIFS File Systems, Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and SQL.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills, with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple efforts simultaneously.
  • A strong self-starter and ability to take a problem from start to finish including performing root cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, capable of translating technical information into actionable insights for various stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both clients and internal teams.

Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours (evenings/weekends) when client requirements or project deadlines demand it.
  • Ability to work onsite at client locations in New York City/Northern New Jersey area as needed.
