Retail Pharmacy Manager

General Summary

The Retail Pharmacy Manager oversees all day-to-day operations of the Phelps Health Retail Pharmacy while performing clinical and professional work in the compounding and dispensing of prescriptions. The position ensures regulatory compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage scheduling, staffing, and workload to meet patient and business needs.
  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge and liaison with regulatory agencies
  • Maintain documentation, record keeping, and audit readiness.
  • Oversee clinical verification, patient counseling, and provider communication.
  • Handle patient and provider complaints in line with organizational policies.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, billing, and third-party reimbursements.
  • Monitor expenses and support budget goals and performance targets.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and develop pharmacy staff for ongoing excellence.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited pharmacy program.

Work Experience

One year of retail pharmacy management/supervisory experience or internship preferred.

Certification/License

Current Missouri pharmacist license required or ability to acquire Missouri licensure within 90 days. Active membership in pharmacy organizations is encouraged.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time on variable operations. Physical requirements of standing, walking, sitting for up to 100 percent of a shift will be necessary. Lifting requirements of up to 35 pounds will be necessary.

Working Conditions

Standard working conditions with considerable printer, automation, refrigerator, door bell, and telephone noise. Subject to difficult deadlines and sensitive situations.
