Job description

Corporate Strategy is a critical enterprise-wide function that helps shape Vanguard's strategic agenda and develops future leaders of the firm. The team partners with senior leaders to solve complex, ambiguous, and future-focused business challenges, bringing objective analysis, strategic insight, and actionable recommendations to support enterprise decision making.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead enterprise strategy workstreams focused on Vanguard's long-term direction, competitive positioning, growth opportunities, operating model evolution, and emerging business challenges. Partner with senior leaders to frame ambiguous strategic questions, define decision points, and develop recommendations that influence enterprise-level priorities and strategic choices.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate strategic opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs and generate insights that inform long-term business direction.
  • Translate strategic insights into clear, compelling executive communications, including presentations and leadership discussions. Effectively articulate complex concepts, strategic implications, and recommended courses of action for senior decision-makers.
  • Drive alignment on strategic initiatives by facilitating cross-functional discussions, influencing stakeholders, and building consensus around strategic priorities, decisions, and next steps across the enterprise.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, competitive dynamics, emerging technologies, and evolving customer needs. Identify developments that may create opportunities or risks for Vanguard and proactively inform strategic discussions.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Five years of relevant experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, enterprise strategy, business strategy, strategic planning, or related fields. Experience supporting enterprise-level strategic initiatives and senior executive decision-making preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to frame and solve complex, ambiguous, and future-oriented business questions. Ability to develop strategic hypotheses, evaluate alternative scenarios, assess tradeoffs, and recommend clear paths forward despite incomplete information.
  • Ability to think beyond functional or business unit boundaries and develop recommendations that consider enterprise-wide impacts, interdependencies, and strategic tradeoffs.
  • Strong stakeholder management and internal consulting skills, including the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and partner effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into concise, compelling recommendations and narratives for senior leadership audiences.
  • Financial services industry experience preferred.
