The Business Unit Controller is responsible for C/A Design and all the financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. They will provide leadership and coordination in the accounting and budgeting efforts and business planning of the company. The Business Unit Controller will also work closely with key business leaders and their staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations. The Business Unit Controller will influence & support strategic planning initiatives and will have a seat at the C/A Design leadership table. This is a highly visible role with tremendous opportunity for growth and professional development reporting to the Vice President of Finance for the Thermal Solutions Segment. This role is responsible for the Exeter, NH and Raleigh, NC manufacturing sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the closing of the monthly financial accounting and year-end cycles to ensure that corporate guidelines are met for deadlines, as well as for financial accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow information. Compare performance and interpret results against operating plans. Control all activities relating to the general ledger.
  • Coordinates all Inter-Company transactions.
  • Oversee and coordinate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with Segment Shared Services.
  • Prepare financials for annual business plan, profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, cost standards, savings opportunities, capital investing, together with goals and objectives to effectuate the plans.
  • Works closely with site & segment leadership in developing and updating rolling forecasts, while building and improving forecasting models to enhance forecasting accuracy.
  • Analyze and update Cost Accounting standards and job costing activities. Prepare margin and absorption analysis to understand product line, value stream and customer profitability.
  • Achieve earnings by coordination of the annual and long-range plan for the control of operations.
  • Maintain cycle counting processes and conduct the Annual Physical Inventory.
  • Coordinate audits from the Internal Audit Department, Outside Auditors, and State and Local Audits.
  • Ensure company operates within GAAP and other CA Design, TSS and ITG/Heico financial policies. Maintain an appropriately designed and effective control environment to ensure accurate financial statements and safeguarding of company assets.
  • Through a lean and CI mentality, identify opportunities to improve business through process changes, technology advancements and data analysis.
  • Automate business processes to increase both front/back office and plant efficiency.
  • Present metrics and financial data/results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continually review plant and operations costs to justify capital equipment upgrades.
  • Develop and present strategic improvements to the TSS VP of Finance and President for approval.
  • Continue exploring new technologies for advancement of company.
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance and operations teams.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals.
  • Assist Senior Management with duties as assigned.
  • Handle Corporate reporting requests as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or finance, MBA or CPA highly desirable.
  • 15 + yearsโ€™ progressive Accounting/Finance experience reflecting increasing responsibility.
  • 5 + yearsโ€™ experience in a leadership role within a multi-site manufacturing facility preferably within an AS9100 organization.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing systems, well-developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to manage personnel.
  • Exceptional cost, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial/business acumen.
  • Strong understanding and working experience in a value stream centered organization that embraces lean and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel. Microsoft Dynamics, D365 and E2 ERP Software.
  • Experience with ERP conversion.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Ability to deliver quality work to tight deadlines, with strong organizational and priority setting skills.
  • High degree of diplomacy and the ability to liaise with department heads and executive leadership team while working towards a common goal.
  • Great presentation skills and the ability to keep cool under pressure.
