The Role:
The Asset & Wealth Management Corporate Development team is focused on external growth through the evaluation and execution of (1) strategic M&A, (2) commercial partnerships, and (3) business strategy.
As part of the divisional leadership team, the Corporate Development team regularly engages with senior divisional stakeholders, the Executive Office, and the GS Board of Directors.
  1. Strategic M&A: Drive end-to-end M&A processes, including the identification of platform gaps, screening of acquisition candidates, evaluation of strategic and financial merits, engagement and negotiation with prospective target companies, and integration within AWM. Recent examples of strategic M&A include the acquisition of Innovator Capital Management (closed April 2026) and the acquisition of Industry Ventures (closed January 2026).
  2. Commercial Partnerships: Engage with AWM business units to advance strategic and commercial ambitions by structuring impactful partnerships with external parties, including (in some cases) minority equity investments. Recent examples include strategic partnerships with (and minority investments in) T. Rowe Price (announced September 2025) and GeoWealth (announced March 2026).
  3. Business Strategy: Leverage internal expertise and conduct independent research to inform and influence opportunities, including new market entry and product development. As subject matter experts, the Corporate Development team monitors industry developments and shifts in the competitive landscape to identify emerging trends (or threats) and execute new business initiatives to help grow the division.

The Corporate Development team is seeking a highly-motivated Analyst / Associate to join its lean (5-person) team in New York. The Analyst / Associate position offers candidates a unique opportunity to contribute to high-visibility strategic and corporate development initiatives with regular exposure to senior leadership.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Support evaluation and execution of all aspects of M&A and partnership opportunities (including building the strategic case, financial model, and valuation)
  • Conduct in-depth competitor and industry research to identify key trends driving change; form independent, fact-based assessments of key opportunities and threats
  • Serve as a subject matter expert across traditional & alternative asset management and wealth management sectors; develop deep knowledge of competitors
  • Prepare materials for AWM, Executive Office, and Board-level communications on strategy, performance, and competitive positioning

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred: finance)
  • 1-3 years of experience (preferred: investment banking or equity research, FIG experience is a plus)
  • Robust analytical, quantitative, and technical abilities (including financial modeling and valuation experience)
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex analyses into concise takeaways
  • Experience with Morningstar, Preqin, FactSet, Visible Alpha, and other market data providers a plus
  • Background or strong interest in the asset & wealth management industry

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $100,000-$160,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
