Who we need
Reporting to the Regional Lead, US Valuation Advisory, we are hiring a Manager, Daily Valuation & NAV Accounting to lead and grow our daily valuation services practice. As our new Manager, you will oversee client engagements and work with institutional real estate clients, appraisers, valuation teams, and internal stakeholders to support daily NAV calculations and share-price reporting layered on top of quarterly real estate valuation processes.
You will lead the projection of net investment income and changes in property values, coordinate valuation updates throughout the quarter, oversee material event analysis, investigate variances, and ensure accurate, timely client deliverables. You will also provide technical oversight to the team, review work before it is delivered to clients, and help shape the processes, tools, and capabilities needed to scale this growing service offering.
This is a specialized leadership opportunity at the intersection of commercial real estate valuation, accounting, financial analysis, and analytics. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of an evolving practice, build structure where needed, and become a recognized subject matter expert within the Daily Valuation & NAV Accounting practice and broader Valuation Advisory team.
This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States, preferably Chicago.
What's in it for you
Lead a growing and specialized practice. You will play a key role in developing a growing daily valuation services practice at the intersection of commercial real estate valuation, accounting, NAV reporting, and financial analytics. As demand for more frequent valuation and reporting continues to grow, you will help shape the capabilities and processes that support this evolving area of the business.
Own and influence how the work gets done. You will have the autonomy to evaluate existing processes, establish best practices, improve workflows, and introduce more scalable ways of working. This is an opportunity to take an evolving service offering and help build the structure, tools, and approaches needed for its continued growth.
Work with sophisticated clients and high-profile portfolios. You will work with institutional real estate clients and collaborate with appraisers, internal valuation teams, and senior stakeholders. You will gain exposure to complex real estate portfolios and help deliver high-quality, highly visible work to leading organizations in the industry.
Grow as a technical leader. You will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in daily valuation, NAV accounting, commercial real estate, and financial analytics while sharing your knowledge and helping build the capabilities and knowledge base around this specialized practice. As the service line grows, you will have the opportunity to expand your leadership responsibilities and influence within the wider Valuation Advisory practice.
As our new Manager, Daily Valuation & NAV Accounting, you will:
  • Lead daily valuation and NAV calculations. You will oversee the review of financial information, property values, debt positions, equity calculations, and working capital adjustments used to support daily NAV reporting. You will lead the projection of net investment income and changes in property values, ensuring the underlying assumptions and calculations are accurate, well supported, and appropriately reflected in share-price reporting.
  • Own client engagements and deliverables. You will take ownership of multiple daily valuation engagements, managing timelines, priorities, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations. You will ensure engagements are delivered accurately, on time, and in accordance with client requirements while proactively identifying risks and resolving issues.
  • Lead valuation updates and material event analysis. You will coordinate with appraisers, clients, internal valuation teams, and other stakeholders to collect and incorporate updated property valuations throughout the quarter. You will oversee the analysis of material events, such as new leases, bankruptcies, and significant market or property developments, and determine how relevant changes should be reflected in valuation and NAV calculations.
  • Analyze results and investigate variances. You will review projected results against actual share-price and valuation outcomes, investigate material variances, and work with internal teams and clients to understand the underlying drivers and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Provide technical review, quality oversight, and direct team leadership. You will review the work of team members before deliverables are shared with clients and third parties, while directly managing one analyst initially with potential for team growth. You will assess assumptions, calculations, projections, and variance analysis to ensure the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and technical excellence.
  • Lead client and stakeholder relationships. You will interpret client requests, understand the underlying business need, and determine the appropriate response. You will communicate complex financial and valuation information clearly and coordinate requests across clients, appraisers, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead process improvement and modernization. You will evaluate existing workflows, templates, and documentation to identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and improved efficiency. You will help establish scalable processes and best practices for the growing Daily Valuation Services practice.
  • Improve and modernize the practice. You will evaluate existing workflows, templates, documentation, and tools to identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and improved efficiency. You will also explore how emerging technologies, including AI, can help reduce manual work, improve data and reporting processes, and increase the scalability and quality of daily valuation engagements.
  • Build capability across the practice. You will share your expertise, coach and mentor colleagues, and help establish knowledge-sharing practices, tools, and processes that support the continued growth of the Daily Valuation & NAV Accounting practice.
  • Shape the future of the practice. You will contribute to the strategic development of Daily Valuation & NAV Accounting, identifying opportunities to improve the service offering, strengthen client delivery, and support future business growth. Over time, you will become a trusted subject matter expert within the practice and wider Valuation Advisory team.

You bring:
  • The accounting and NAV foundation. You bring a strong accounting background and direct experience supporting NAV calculations or NAV reporting. You understand how property performance, debt, valuations, and other financial inputs affect NAV and investment reporting. You are comfortable creating plans, evaluating results, identifying at-risk deliverables, managing budgets, and communicating proactively when priorities or timelines change.
  • The client and communication skills. You can build effective working relationships with institutional clients, appraisers, colleagues, and stakeholders with different backgrounds and levels of technical expertise. • The leadership mindset. You are a self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and is comfortable operating in an evolving environment where you may need to create structure and determine the best way forward. You are energized by the opportunity to solve problems, establish best practices, improve how work gets done, and help others develop. You bring the confidence to make recommendations, challenge existing approaches, and take ownership of the continued growth of the practice.
  • The credentials. You have a university or college degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution. A CPA would be preferred.
