Chariot Reinsurance, Ltd. is incorporated as a Class E Bermuda insurance company sponsored by MetLife and General Atlantic.Reporting to the Lead Valuation Actuary, the GAAP Valuation Actuary is a key position. This person will predominantly be responsible for leading all aspects of U.S. GAAP actuarial valuation and financial reporting for the company's life and annuity business. This position serves as a key leader within the actuarial organization, providing technical expertise, strategic insight, and operational oversight of the quarterly reporting process.The role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Investments, Risk Management, and senior leadership to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results, provide meaningful earnings insights, and support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will eventually lead a team of actuaries, drive continuous process improvement, and ensure compliance with evolving accounting standards and governance requirements.This includes responsibility for the preparation of models, inputs and outputs to facilitate GAAP valuation including any necessary analytical runs and surrounding controls. The GAAP Valuation Actuary will also support the conversion of pricing models into the Prophet valuation environment for the GAAP reporting component and liaise with accounting to decide on GAAP accounting decisions.The ideal candidate will be technically strong in GAAP valuation, understand a variety of products, can analyze model inputs and outputs and capable of managing run schedules to meet the necessary timelines.

Responsibilities
  • Lead quarterly and annual GAAP valuation and reporting and serve as the actuarial GAAP subject matter expert, overseeing GAAP reporting methodologies
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of reserves, liabilities, earnings emergence, and actuarial disclosures.
  • Own GAAP actuarial projection results and partner with FP&A and senior leaders to explain earnings, reserve movements, and experience variances.
  • Ensure GAAP actuarial models are governed, documented, controlled, and validated. This includes overseeing model changes, validation, reconciliations, and audit support.
  • Review quarterly Prophet model inputs, including seriatim inforce data, assumptions, and mapping tables.
  • Perform GAAP valuation controls, including documentation, model validation, change management, and implied rate analysis.
  • Support annual assumption updates through model runs, analysis, and implementation documentation.
  • Partner with the lead modeling actuary and external parties to ensure efficient user experience.
  • Support new business onboarding by overseeing implementation of GAAP valuation reporting across a variety of products.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, etc.
  • Near to fully qualified Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or equivalent designation.
  • 8+ years of actuarial experience within life insurance, annuities, or reinsurance.
  • Significant experience (5+ yrs) leading U.S. GAAP valuation and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial modeling, reserving methodologies, and assumption management.
  • Ability to analyze model inputs and outputs and understand the model logic. Prophet knowledge would be preferable but not necessary.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing actuarial teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to drive results, sometimes under tight deadlines.
