Job Description
Under the direction of a supervisor and in compliance with all company safety protocols, the Irrigation Maintenance I role supports preventative maintenance and agricultural operations. This position involves hands-on work in the field and shop, assisting with irrigation systems and general farm maintenance.
Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.
  • Assist with assembling, inspecting, cleaning, and replacing irrigation pump and motor equipment.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on pumps, valves, and fittings.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance such as oiling motors and greasing pumps.
  • Support setup for new water well development (excavation, PVC installation).
  • Operate basic heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, service trucks).
  • Perform general farm maintenance: cleaning, painting, minor irrigation fixes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the irrigation shop.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Farm Maintenance
  • Cleaning up of roadways, equipment yards, shops
  • Painting
  • Address minor irrigation fixes.
  • Occasional welding (if no experience, training will be provided on the job)
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional
  • Keep equipment stocked.
  • Maintain Safety protocols when performing different types of tasks. Wearing the appropriate PPE.
  • Always maintain the Irrigation Maintenance shop clean.
  • General maintenance, installations, repairs, or electrical work at the different Wonderful Orchards locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $20-$21/hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, shall, and/ or ability required. Critical Skills (Soft skills/ transferable)
  • Consistently follow standard work and standard operating procedures.
  • Satisfactory reading comprehension of manuals, directions, safety hazards
  • Satisfactory communication skills including writing emails, texts, report outs
  • Self-directed individual with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Able to take and read various measurements - land depth, length, voltage

Functional Skills (Hard skills/ job-specific)
  • Proven experience in electrical, construction, or commercial environments is required
  • Basic to Advance knowledge of: Pumps, motors, filter stations, sulfur burners, gypsum machine, fertilizer and acid pumps
  • Read, understand and apply Operating Manuals, plans and specifications and visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • The ability to drive a truck and trailer. The ability to properly secure a load.
  • Experience using Global Positioning System (GPS)
  • Comprehension and practice of farm safety, electrical safety, and trench safety

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    • 1-2 years working with Agricultural Farm Equipment preferred and/or 1 year working experience with wonderful farming operations (Irrigation Department)
    • Proven experience in electrical, construction, or commercial environments is required

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Class A License (preferred)
