Transport Store Door Driver (CDL Class A)

Location: Evansville, IN
Department: Transportation
Reports To: Shipping/Transport Superintendent
 

Position Summary

Lewis Bakeries is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to join our Transportation team in Evansville, Indiana. This position delivers fresh bakery products throughout the tri-state area while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Pay and Benefits

  • Starting pay: $25.75/hour
  • Increase to $26.75/hour after 12 months
  • $1,250 weekly guarantee
  • Attendance bonus opportunities

Schedule

  • Routes are typically worked 5 days per week
  • General scheduled days off are Tuesday and Saturday
  • Start times generally range between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM
  • Routes typically average 10-hour shifts
  • Schedules and days off may be adjusted to accommodate holiday operations

What You’ll Do

  • Safely operate company-owned and leased Class A commercial vehicles
  • Deliver and unload bakery products at customer locations throughout the tri-state area
  • Complete required DOT inspections, logs, and documentation
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries and pickups
  • Protect and maintain company equipment and property
  • Assist with other transportation-related duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 1-3 years of professional driving experience preferred
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and other pre-employment requirements
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate electronic systems
  • Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, and perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to travel throughout the tri-state area

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent physical activity, including:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling bakery products
  • Occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force
  • Frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force
  • Constant exertion of up to 20 pounds of force
  • Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, and lifting
