Job description

VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHCS) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Dermatologist to provide comprehensive care to Veterans. The selected candidate will also have a faculty appointment at Loma Linda University and participate in education of medical students, residents and other providers.

Position Details

This full‑time role includes evaluation, consultation, diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders in both ambulatory and inpatient settings. It requires direct patient care, medical record documentation, surgical procedures, and participation in teledermatology and electronic consultation networks.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in ambulatory outpatient and inpatient dermatology settings, including evaluation, examination, diagnosis, follow‑up, and medical record documentation.
  • Perform minor procedures: biopsies, shave biopsies, simple excisions, cryotherapy, intralesional injections, and patch testing.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, make appropriate treatment decisions, and prescribe timely therapy.
  • Participate in e‑consults, teledermatology store‑and‑forward, video connect visits, and myVAimage to improve access to care.
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage on a rotating schedule with other dermatology staff.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation in the medical record per VA policies, ensuring timely completion of encounters and consults.
Patient Management & Interprofessional Collaboration
  • Develop rapport and engage patients and families in treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members during meetings and conferences to coordinate care.
Education & Mentorship
  • Actively educate medical students, residents, fellows, and clinical staff at Loma Linda University.
  • Supervise Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other providers on the inpatient service and outpatient clinic as appropriate.
Competencies & Administration
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes, HIPAA, and continuing education requirements.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Chief of Dermatology.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology.
  • Experience with inpatient and outpatient dermatology services.
  • Proficient in performing minor dermatologic procedures and interpreting diagnostic studies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to veteran care and educational mentorship.
Work Schedule and Compensation

Monday–Friday, with on‑call coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Salary range: $340,000–$365,000.

Location: Loma Linda, California.
