Job description

GD Resources LLC is seeking experienced General Engineers to provide professional engineering and project support for construction, renovation, infrastructure, and facilities initiatives at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
Responsibilities
  • Support planning, scoping, and execution of construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Review architectural and engineering design documents.
  • Evaluate technical adequacy, code compliance, constructability, and impacts on healthcare operations.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, risk registers, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Management, Safety, Infection Control, clinical departments, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support outage planning and construction sequencing.
  • Perform root-cause and forensic analysis of facility system failures.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical memoranda.
  • Provide project oversight from planning through completion.
  • Apply applicable VA design requirements, NFPA standards, and healthcare facility codes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional engineering experience within the applicable discipline in a hospital setting.
  • Experience supporting healthcare construction, renovation, facilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering codes and healthcare facility standards.
  • Ability to review designs, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Strong project coordination, technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
Work Schedule
The VA operates 24 hours per day. Depending on project and facility needs, personnel may be scheduled within:
  • 1st Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM

Specific assignments will be based on VA operational requirements.
