External - Posting Description Machinist - Job#518431 Organization: Generation Department: Coal Operations Work Location: Cumberland Fossil Plant in Cumberland City TN Relocation benefits are not offered. Local candidates may be preferred. Posting Open: 5/26/2026 Posting Close: 5/28//2026 at 11:59 PM EST Salary: $110,345 Duties The major portion of duties will be general maintenance and emergency repairs to mechanical equipment at the plant.

This includes the steam turbines, governors, condensers, air ejectors, pumps, pulverizers, fans, heaters, evaporators, coal-handling equipment, traveling water screens, cranes, intake gates, and other pertinent equipment pertaining to the plant and may require cutting with oxygen-acetylene torch, dismantling and assembling of equipment, the renewal of parts, and the repairs of tools. A minor portion of the time will be spent in connection with infrequent construction work, making up of necessary job reports, and periodical checking of general operating conditions of mechanical equipment. As assigned, the incumbent may direct the work of one or more apprentice machinists.

May be assigned and will perform other work they are certified/qualified to perform. Qualifications The position requires a thorough knowledge of precision machine work and the mechanical characteristics of equipment installed in the station which includes alignment of and repairs to turbines and turbine equipment, pumps, hydraulic couplings, compressors, blower, valves, hoists, governors, and related equipment, as well as the capacity to apply this knowledge to the correct procedure to be followed in all emergencies as well as during routine attention. This employee should have at least a high school education and must have had several years experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and steam plant equipment.

Must be certified as possessing Machinist craft journeyman level skills. This certification for Level II is established by successful completion of Phases 1-4 of Appendices 10 or 11 of the JTP; or through successful completion of a TVA-recognized, DOL-approved craft journeyman apprenticeship program, or equivalent. High school education or equivalent.

May be required to satisfactorily demonstrate their aptitude and ability to perform the job through a machining or welding test, if applicable, prior to being selected. Must be able to work various schedules and overtime as needed. Must meet the physical and medical requirements of the job.

Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and abide by all safety rules and regulatory requirements. The Statement of Service must list your dates of military service, character of service, expected date of separation and any service-connected disability rating that you have been awarded from your branch of military service.
