What is a UX graduate?

UX Graduates are individuals who have recently completed a degree or formal training in User Experience (UX) design. They typically possess foundational knowledge in areas like user research, interaction design, prototyping, and usability testing. UX Graduates are often looking to start their careers in UX by applying their skills in entry-level roles, internships, or junior design positions. They contribute fresh perspectives and are eager to learn from more experienced professionals in the field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a UX graduate?

To thrive as a UX Graduate, you need a foundational understanding of user-centered design, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing, often gained through a relevant degree or coursework. Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and basic knowledge of user research methods are typically expected. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills help you effectively present ideas and work within multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure that you can contribute to creating intuitive and engaging user experiences that meet both user and business needs.

What kinds of projects can a UX graduate expect to work on in their first role?

As a UX Graduate, you can expect to work on a variety of projects, often starting with user research, usability testing, wireframing, or supporting more senior designers in creating user flows and prototypes. You may be involved in both individual tasks and collaborative team efforts, contributing to the design of websites, apps, or digital products. It's common to rotate through different stages of the UX process to build a strong foundation, and you'll likely have opportunities to present your ideas and gather feedback from colleagues in design, development, and product management.
