Job description

Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Phoneix, AZ

This role will join an Agile pod to support the data environment that enables Regulatory Reporting teams to file complete and accurate regulatory reports. This role focuses on bridging business needs and technical solutions by gathering requirements, analyzing data processes, and ensuring the data environment aligns with data governance and regulatory compliance objectives. Working collaboratively with cross-functional pod members, the Business Analyst will drive efficient workflows, optimize data systems, and support iterative delivery in a fast-paced Agile environment.

This role requires a strong experience in Data Remediation for reg reporting with mix of data expertise, relationship-building, operational rigor, and the ability to partner across global teams. This role will work closely with Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Data Governance, Technology, Architecture, and Operations to identify data challenges, prioritize remediation initiatives, and advance the bank’s data maturity

Responsibilities
  • Requirements Gathering - Collaborate with Regulatory Reporting teams, and stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize business requirements
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as CCAR, FR Y-14, and BCBS 239 along with regulatory and risk-focused mindset
  • Agile Collaboration - Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) to align on pod goals, refine user stories, and deliver incremental improvements
  • Stakeholder Communication - Act as a liaison between Regulatory Reporting teams, data engineers, and developers to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
  • Data Quality & Governance - Support the implementation of data quality rules and controls to ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements
  • Testing & Validation - Assist in defining acceptance criteria for data-related user stories and support testing to ensure the data environment meets regulatory and business needs
  • Documentation - Create and maintain clear documentation, requirements specifications, and user guides, as well as source-to-target mapping and metadata documentation in Collibra, to support regulatory audits and team workflows
  • Understand Regulatory Edit Checks and other data quality controls and work with stakeholders to strengthen the risk and control environment
  • Root Cause Analysis - Conduct thorough root cause analysis of data gaps and data quality issues and formulate the resulting remediation initiatives
  • Regulatory Responses - Formulate responses to Regulatory Edit Checks and other inquiries that result from FR Y-14Q filings
  • Understanding of data environments, including databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Netezza), both on-prem and in cloud. And familiarity with ETL and data virtualization tools. Good understanding of SQL
Data Quality, Controls & Remediation
  • Data remediation programs focused on improving accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of data used in Finance and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Strengthen end-to-end data controls, including lineage, reconciliation, validations, monitoring, and issue management.
  • Identify data breakages, root causes, and impactful remediation pathways in partnership with global stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvements aligned with enterprise data governance policies and regulatory expectations.
Finance & Regulatory Reporting Enablement
  • Support data requirements for key regulatory filings (e.g., FR Y-14, Y-9C, Call Reports, Liquidity, and other finance data needs).
  • Ensure data quality thresholds, reconciliation processes, and lineage mapping meet the needs of Finance and Regulatory Reporting teams.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to align data processes with evolving regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
Data Governance & Standards
  • Follow enterprise data governance policies, standards, and controls across critical data domains.
  • Partner with Data Governance to ensure business terms, data definitions, lineage, and critical data elements meet required standards.
  • Drive adoption of governance frameworks and champion data stewardship across Finance and Regulatory Reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with across Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Data Governance, Engineering, Architecture, and Operations.
  • Ensure clear, transparent, and proactive communication with global teams and stakeholders at multiple levels.
Team Leadership & Growth
  • Develop talent, foster collaboration, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Play a key role in scaling the Enterprise Data & Analytics presence
Strategic Data Migration & Modernization
  • Help identify and prioritize strategic data migration opportunities to modern platforms (e.g., cloud environments, Snowflake) in partnership with Engineering & Architecture teams.
  • Ensure data migrations contribute to improvements in data quality, governance maturity, and operational resilience.
  • Drive adoption of modern data tools and capabilities across enterprise teams.
Technical Skills:
  • Hands on experience in database connectivity, SQL Server / Dev, Oracle, Snowflake, Netezza, both on-prem and in cloud. And familiarity with ETL and data virtualization tools.
  • Experience in data governance tools like Collibra or equaling
  • Good Knowledge or experience in Python, AI / ML, Data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Data Management, Data Analytics, Enterprise Risk Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Data Management, Data Analytics, Enterprise Risk Management

Preferred:
  • 12 to 16+ years of experience in data management, data quality, data remediation, data governance, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise reporting for senior management and key stakeholders on regulatory reporting status, data quality issues, risks, dashboards, MBR’s, KPI, Operational decks
  • Prior banking experience in large financial institutions and experience supporting regulatory reporting functions is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Finance and Regulatory Reporting data needs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with global teams across Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Technology, and Governance.
  • Experience in leading junior team members by training, coaching & Initiating collaboration with various data teams, stakeholders & Management for effective deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying data issues, driving root cause analysis, and leading remediation initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Data, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure).
  • Exposure to data lineage tools, metadata management platforms, and data quality monitoring solutions.
  • Experience working with enterprise data quality tools, frameworks, and control processes.
