WORK SCHEDULE

Full-Time / 40 Hours per week

Mondays - Fridays, 8:00 - 5:00 PM

Day shift

No holidays, weekends, or night hours

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center at Harborview is a five operating room surgical unit with supporting pre-operative, post-operative, and sterile processing departments. The UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center will provide daytime surgical procedures to the community of patients that meet developed criteria.

ABOUT THE OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER

The new Outpatient Surgery Center opening on the Harborview Campus is located on the 4th floor of Ninth and Jefferson Building (NJB) and will open January 2026 to patients. The Surgery Center will feature 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday with no holidays, weekends, or night hours. The Center will offer same-day surgery procedures utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to our community of patients that meet the necessary criteria. This reflects the Center's innovative, patient-centered culture, supporting ongoing operational efficiencies and quality improvements. The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member. The unit will provide a soothing environment with natural lighting and patient privacy.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Take the lead in the patient care experience by prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures

Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons

Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, problem-solving environment while maintaining vigilance of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures

Perform scrub role while supporting patient safety a sterile environment

Support of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment OR equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
