Scope of Job
Trainee position to pursue clinical work as a vital component of their educational mission and professional career development. Works under supervision appropriate to trainee competencies with some latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment in teaching. Performs teaching and work as required by the Family Medicine Educator Fellowship and the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) program.
Description of Duties
The following is a listing of typical duties that may be applicable to the position:
Clinical:
Providing same-day Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) services to the clinics' patients base for a wide range of mental health, behavioral health, and disease management issues; provide behavioral consultation with family medicine residents and faculty physicians; provide care in the local outreach sites, serving the underserved and uninsured members of the local population.
Educational Instruction/Teaching:
Educational Instructional/Teaching: teaching of family systems, behavioral science, and brief assessments and intervention skills in conjunction with faculty member, through didactic lectures presented to family medicine residents.
Supervision Received
General supervision from immediate faculty supervisor.

None.
Required Education
Master's degree in psychology, clinical or rehabilitation counseling and social work, or a related field from an accredited university.

None.
Licenses/Certifications
Provisional license may be accepted or hold a temporary/conditional professional counselor license and are actively working toward licensure (Proof of progress will need to be submitted to the supervisor every 6 months).
Required Experience
None.
Preferred Experience
Bilingual- (English / Spanish). Experience with integrated behavioral health in a healthcare setting.
Equipment
Use of personal computer and proficiency in EMR software.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment across the Rio Grande Valley.
