Description:

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) services within a Kentucky-licensed Behavioral Health Services Organization (BHSO) and Alcohol and Other Drug Entity (AODE). The LCSW is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, providing individual, group, and family therapy, maintaining clinical documentation, participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and ensuring compliance with Kentucky regulations, accreditation standards, and payer requirements. 

The LCSW works collaboratively with medical providers, case managers, peer support specialists, and other treatment team members to promote recovery-oriented, person-centered care.

Clinical Services 

• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, substance use assessments, risk assessments, and diagnostic evaluations.  
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and treatment team members.  
• Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy services.  
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.  
• Monitor client progress and revise treatment plans as clinically indicated.  
• Coordinate care with physicians, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, community agencies, and referral sources.  
• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.  
• Participate in discharge planning and aftercare coordination.  

Substance Use Disorder Treatment 

• Deliver substance use disorder counseling consistent with ASAM criteria and Kentucky AODE regulations.  
• Assist with level-of-care determinations and treatment recommendations.  
• Support clients in achieving recovery goals through evidence-based practices.  
• Coordinate services for individuals participating in outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), or other levels of care.  
• Collaborate with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) providers when applicable.  

Documentation and Compliance 

• Complete clinical documentation within required timelines.  
• Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, discharge summaries, and other clinical records.  
• Ensure documentation meets standards established by:  
• Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS)  
• Department for Medicaid Services (DMS)  
• Behavioral Health Services Organization (BHSO) regulations  
• Alcohol and Other Drug Entity (AODE) regulations  
• Accreditation standards (CARF, Joint Commission, or other applicable accrediting body)  
• Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements.  

Quality and Program Support 

• Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement activities.  
• Assist with program development and implementation of evidence-based practices.  
• Support organizational performance improvement initiatives and outcome measurement activities.  
• Maintain productivity standards established by the organization.  
• Participate in audits, surveys, and accreditation activities as requested. 

Requirements:

Qualifications 

Education 

• Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.  

Licensure 

• Current Kentucky Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential in good standing.  

Experience 

• Minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure clinical experience preferred.  
• Experience providing mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment preferred.  
• Experience in outpatient, intensive outpatient, community behavioral health, or integrated healthcare settings preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.  
• Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and substance use disorder treatment principles.  
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented services.  
• Strong assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention skills.  
• Knowledge of Kentucky Medicaid behavioral health regulations.  
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.  
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary team. 
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
