Job description

We are seeking a motivated and driven project manager to lead complex highway and civil infrastructure projects from inception to completion. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager coordinates clients, engineers, subcontractors, and teams to ensure strong collaboration and quality throughout each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of heavy civil projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including field supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Proactively identify and resolve project risks and challenges.
  • Enforce safety, quality, and environmental standards across all job sites.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Monitor budgets, track costs, and forecast financial performance.
  • Secure permits and verify subcontractor insurance and compliance.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Facilitate project meetings and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Submit monthly progress reports and keep leadership informed.
  • Manage project closeout, punch lists, and final documentation.
  • Maintain in an organized environment, all project documentation, including as-built drawings and warranties.
  • Ensure smooth handoff to owners and obtain necessary approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred candidate with experience in large-scale heavy highway/civil construction.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale infrastructure projects from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and scheduling software.
  • Deep understanding of grading, drainage, structures, and paving methods.
  • Experience with VDOT regulations and permitting.
  • Passion for construction and commitment to excellence.
