Job description

A sixty-six-year-old site contractor and experts in excavation-specializing in heavy earthwork, underground utilities and paving is seeking an Underground Utility/Pipe Foreman to lead a crew on site development projects throughout New Jersey.


The Underground Utility/Pipe Foreman is a working foreman and will lead a crew that install, repair and maintain buried infrastructure such as water mains, sewer lines and storm drains.

Underground Utility/Pipe Foreman Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage a utility crew
  • Read plans, profiles, details, stakes, and grades
  • Install pipe safely, accurately, and efficiently
  • Maintain line, grade, slope, elevations, and proper bedding
  • Coordinate daily work with superintendents and project managers
  • Plan labor, equipment, materials, trucking, and deliveries
  • Identify conflicts, delays, safety issues, and production problems early
  • Communicate with inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Track extra work, changes, quantities, and daily field notes
  • Enforce safety, trench safety, shoring, and OSHA requirements

 

Underground Utility/Pipe Foreman Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of underground utility, pipe, grading, or heavy site work experience
  • 3+ years as a foreman, lead man, or crew leader
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Strong knowledge of storm, sanitary, water, drainage, trenching, and grading
  • Ability to read site plans, profiles, details, and specifications
  • Ability to calculate slopes, grades, and elevations
  • Experience checking grade and working with stakes/layout
  • Knowledge of bedding, compaction, shoring, soil conditions, and trench safety
  • Ability to lead a crew and maintain production
  • Strong communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Trimble GPS, layout, or machine control experience is a plus
