Overview
The Utility Analyst I maintains, analyzes, and reports on utility data on a large scale to evaluate cost and consumption as well as measure savings related to energy efficiency and procurement options.
Responsibilities
  • Develops and assesses the viability of strategies meant to support conservation, increase usage of renewable resources, improve efficiency, or reduce energy costs or wasteful output.
  • Entering large volumes of data and then conducting a preliminary data analysis to ensure validity.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Assist in the maintenance of client's facility and utility data in a database.
  • Assist in the review of utility invoices for errors and in disputing errors with the utility on behalf of the Client.
  • Assist in the maintenance of EPA Energy Star Client accounts.
  • Conduct energy benchmarking work for portfolio of buildings.
  • Perform the assigned duties with supervision, while working in a team problem-solving environment.

Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of experience.
  • Associate's degree or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Business, Economics, or a related field or related work experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft applications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem/situation analysis.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with commercial utility bills and rate structures.
  • Experience with database queries.
  • Experience with VBA.
  • Experience with energy efficiency programs.
Travel Requirements
  • 0-10% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Quiet environment.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
