Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace water meters, water and/or sewer lines and related appurtenances
  • Locates manholes, service connections, valves and other utilities
  • Assist with the installation/repair of new sewer taps and/or water service lines
  • Clear debris from manholes, water and sewer lines, sewer stream crossings, easements, valve boxes, etc.
  • Inspect and evaluate condition of systems; diagnoses leaks, blockages or other problems;
  • Excavate around water and sewer infrastructure;
  • Install appropriate repair fittings; 
  • Perform confined space entries into permit required confined spaces as needed;
  • Gather tools and equipment needed to complete work activities; picks up and transports materials, tools and supplies;
  • Perform related activities: saw cuts driveways, sidewalks, curbs, and roads during repair;
  • Assist with the preparation and restoration of landscape, property, and other areas to preconstruction conditions that are disrupted as a result of repair work;
  • Adhere to established safety procedures: monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees, other individuals, equipment, and property;
  • Flag and directs traffic and places markers, signs and cones around project or work site to ensure safety of crew and the traveling public; and wears personal protective equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
