Job description

JOURNEYMAN MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN
Must be skilled, fully trained tradesperson who performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on equipment, machinery, or facilities-typically after completing an apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preventive maintenance: Inspect and service equipment to prevent failures
  • Repairs: Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues
  • Troubleshooting: Identify root causes of equipment problems
  • Installation: Set up and test new machinery or systems
  • Safety compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety standards
  • Documentation: Record maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Skills & Knowledge
  • Mechanical and electrical systems (motors, conveyors, PLCs, etc.)
  • Blueprint and schematic reading
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Basic computer or CMMS (maintenance software) skills

Requirements
  • Completed apprenticeship, trade school, or several years of experience
  • Journeyman certification (in some trades/regions)
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights or weekends
  • Physical ability for lifting, climbing, and standing for long periods
