Job description

Reporting to the Director, Wet Utilities as part of the Utilities Team, the Manager will be responsible for executing on near-term and long-term wet utility strategies to help integrate wet utilities into ongoing and new data center projects. The Manager will be responsible for managing and reviewing consultant studies, supporting the development team related to water & sewer needs and managing relationships with various external stakeholders.

The Manager will also support new corporate priorities and initiatives such as internal process improvements, exploring new markets, water & sewer procurement efforts, and regulatory/policy advocacy with external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have experience with various phases of developing, designing, and constructing water and sewer facilities, be able to translate and communicate technical issues to non-technical team members, and a strong ability to identify issues and provide problem solving strategies. Locations: Denver, CO and Las Cruces, NM Preferred, Flexible for the right Candidate!

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review consultant efforts with respect to various engineering, design, estimating, and construction related to water & sewer to support development of new data center sites.
  • Advise the Development Team on how water & sewer needs will impact development optionality.
  • Review and approve project cost estimates and schedules related to project water & sewer needs.
  • Manage relationships and discussions with water & sewer utilities as it relates to their review/oversight of site infrastructure needs.
  • Review and analyze data to provide reports assessing existing upstream and local infrastructure of Water and Sewer providers in existing and future project locations.
  • Support Development Team efforts in rezoning cases and Development Site Permit Applications.
  • Support Development and help execute Engineering, Procurement and Construction strategies for future on-and-off-site water and sewer infrastructure projects.
  • Support Development Team efforts in future permitting and regulatory activities at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Assist with review of agreements with water & sewer utilities.
  • Work with regional utility providers to extend and capitalize on the use of reclaimed water to serve the corporation’s data center sites.
  • Identify and develop new near-term and long-term strategies in conjunction with the Director, Wet Utilities to continually improve internal processes (i.e. workflows, communications, presentation of deliverables)
  • Manage budget related to water & sewer consultant activities.
  • Prepare presentations, track market activity, and provide reports to the broader Utilities Team.
  • Collaborate with other business units supporting the corporation’s Development as necessary, including pre-construction, design and engineering, sales, legal, and tax.
  • Aid in the preparation of business cases and recommendations for leadership approval. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, environmental engineering or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience with water & sewer utility infrastructure, including exposure to engineering, design, construction, and/or operations and maintenance of water & sewer infrastructure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented, creative thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to execute, process, and prioritize tasks with minimal-to-no supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
