Job Summary

The University Campus Store is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Utech Service Specialist. In this role, the Utech Service Specialist efficiently handles computer service-related paperwork and provides technical assistance with repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting. They offer customer support, manage vendor communications for product issues, and perform routine upgrades and board-level repairs. Additionally, they assist the Computer Solutions Department staff and the university community, troubleshoot defective products, and determine appropriate actions to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Efficiently complete and process computer service-related paperwork.

  • Technical Assistance: Assist with computer repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues.

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional support to customers, addressing their technical concerns and inquiries.

  • Vendor Coordination: Manage communication with vendors for product repairs, replacements, refunds, or credits.

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform routine upgrades and board-level repairs on computer products supported by the University Campus Store.

  • Community Support: Offer technical assistance to the Computer Solutions Department staff and the general university community as needed.

  • Product Management: Troubleshoot defective products and determine appropriate actions.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah student.

This is an entry-level position. Training will be provided. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills and the ability to pass a security clearance is required. Some positions require a minimum of six months cashiering experience.

Preferences

  • Previous experience in computer hardware/software troubleshooting is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
