Position Summary

The Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of an assigned shift within a fast-paced United States Postal Service (USPS) container processing facility. This leadership position is accountable for employee safety, operational performance, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction while developing a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Supervisor leads a team of hourly employees, makes real-time operational decisions, allocates labor and equipment resources, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with USPS and Hollingsworth standards.

This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, and driving operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly employees to build a high-performing team.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings, safety talks, and performance coaching.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, cross-training, and employee development.
  • Address attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.

Operations Management

  • Direct all shift operations to ensure production goals and customer expectations are achieved.
  • Coordinate staffing, labor allocation, and equipment utilization based on daily workload.
  • Make operational decisions that maximize efficiency while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources throughout the shift to meet changing production demands.
  • Ensure compliance with USPS work instructions and company operating procedures.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, and labor utilization.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Assist with implementing new processes, equipment improvements, and best practices across the operation.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and USPS requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and participate in incident investigations.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on equipment and safe work practices.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete daily production reporting and operational documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, attendance, and production data.
  • Utilize company systems to monitor productivity, labor, and operational performance.
  • Communicate operational updates and shift performance to plant leadership.

Qualificationsย 

Required

  • Minimum two years of leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, logistics, or production operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting systems.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends when operationally required.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening.

Preferred

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Experience leading teams within manufacturing, logistics, distribution, or mail processing operations.
  • Forklift certification or equipment experience.
  • Experience working with KPI reporting, labor management, or continuous improvement programs.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred where business needs require.
