What is a USPS Mail Processing job?

USPS Mail Processing jobs involve sorting and preparing mail for delivery within the United States Postal Service network. Employees in these roles operate machinery to separate letters and packages by destination, ensure mail is handled efficiently, and may also load and unload mail from trucks. These positions are critical to keeping the mail moving smoothly and on time, especially during peak periods. Mail processing clerks typically work in large postal facilities and may be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a USPS Mail Processing clerk?

To thrive as a USPS Mail Processing Clerk, you need attention to detail, basic math and literacy skills, and the ability to stand or move for long periods, often requiring a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with mail sorting machines, barcode scanners, and computerized tracking systems is typically required. These skills ensure accurate and efficient mail handling, timely deliveries, and smooth postal operations.
