MBA Consulting Services, Inc. (MBA CSi) is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) to support the United States Postal Service (USPS) Engineering organization in Merrifield, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, securing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise Oracle database environments that support mission-critical applications and services used across one of the nation's largest organizations.

Working alongside software developers, system administrators, and engineering teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of USPS database infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work with enterprise-scale Oracle technologies, including Oracle 19c, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and advanced performance tuning, while supporting complex federal technology initiatives.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Oracle DBA seeking to contribute to high-impact federal programs while expanding their expertise in enterprise database architecture, performance optimization, and mission-critical infrastructure. The position is located onsite at the USPS Engineering Headquarters in Merrifield, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable Oracle 19c database environments.
  • Develop logical and physical database architectures that maximize performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Create and optimize database schemas, tables, indexes, partitions, and storage strategies.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and administer Oracle Database 19c environments.
  • Design, implement, and support Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN backup and recovery solutions.
  • Analyze database performance and implement tuning strategies for high-volume enterprise applications.
  • Monitor database health, capacity, and system performance while recommending infrastructure improvements.
  • Troubleshoot database, application, and infrastructure issues in collaboration with development and system administration teams.
  • Support data migration, ETL/data loading, import/export, and data transformation activities.
  • Analyze SQL execution plans and optimize complex queries for maximum performance.
  • Serve as the Oracle database subject matter expert throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Document database configurations, standards, and best practices to support operational excellence.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Oracle Database Administration experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience administering Oracle Database 19c.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database design, normalization, and data modeling principles.
  • Expertise in SQL, including DDL and DML.
  • Experience designing and supporting Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, and RMAN environments.
  • Strong experience with Oracle performance tuning, including SGA/PGA optimization, REDO/UNDO management, partitioning, and index analysis.
  • Experience supporting both OLTP and OLAP database environments.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, data loading, import/export, and data transformation.
  • Ability to analyze SQL execution plans and optimize database performance.
  • Experience with enterprise database monitoring, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening.
  • U.S. work authorization required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large-scale federal government or enterprise database environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability Oracle database infrastructures.
  • Proven success designing and implementing enterprise database architecture and performance optimization strategies.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional software development, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to demonstrate recent Oracle database administration projects, technical accomplishments, or enterprise implementations.
  • Oracle Database certifications are a plus.
