Florida State University is currently in the leadership phase of a comprehensive campaign. As the leadership phase of the campaign begins, the Division of University Advancement is accelerating the hiring of additional advancement services professionals' campus-wide and is excited to build out its team. For Advancement professionals who are interested in being a part of a comprehensive campaign from the beginning for their career development, the timing is ideal to join our team.
Responsibilities
The Data Specialist will contribute to the integrity, maintenance and management of advancement information through data entry, information management and reporting within the Data Management unit. The Data Specialist is expected to uphold and exemplify the operating practices and mission of the Foundation.
Maintain Data Integrity
  • Creates and updates database records, which may include but are not limited to demographic, employment, relationship, contact and affiliation information. Reviews, proofreads and/or analyzes data with a critical eye for accuracy, logic and relevance.
Information Management
  • Uses a variety of on-line resources for problem-solving purposes. Maintains information in a variety of formats including network files and digital images. Manages digital documents through indexing, scanning and auditing.
Reporting
  • Merges and reviews data from the database into spreadsheet or word processing documents. Performs queries and exports/imports in the database.
Complete routine data updates for assigned functional areas (for example, volunteer data, or constituent attributes, or employment data) or from software platforms from which data updates are received.
Complete ad-hoc data enhancement projects or support team-wide data processing projects. Communicates effectively with co-workers and other customers. Performs clerical tasks as required. Protects confidential information. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
