The Auditorium is one of the most impressive and historic venues in the City of Chicago--a crown jewel in the firmament. Our commitment is to give each guest, no matter what concert, show, dance, or film they've come to see, an exemplary and welcoming experience and it all starts with you. 


Position Summary:The Usher position is responsible for delivering the highest caliber of guest services during all events and functions within the Theatre. For the Auditorium, USH is a verb.
Major Areas of Responsibilities:
  • Welcome guest to the Theatre in the most helpful manner possible
  • Scan guests tickets, ensuring ticket is valid for performance and give accurate directions
  • Greet and escort guests to their assigned seats in an efficient and friendly manner
  • Check work area for cleanliness and be sure all pathways are clear of obstacles or trash
  • Pro-actively attend to guests' needs: questions, directions, information regarding the performance, and Theatre policies
  • Responsible for a safe and efficient ingress and egress
  • Respond to emergencies or guest related issues/concerns in a timely manner
  • Assemble and distribute programs to guests
  • Collect and return lost and found items to guests

Experience:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities are the most important qualifications of this position.
  • Excellent verbal skills
  • Strong spirit of optimism and collaboration
  • Knowledge and experience ushering within a large Theatre environment
  • Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures
  • Flexible availability, including evening, weekend and Holiday hours
  • Work successfully in a fast paced and loud environment
  • Able to lift and carry 40 lbs
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and walk up and down steps
  • Comfortable with heights
