Job description

Senior UX/UI Design Contractor
We're O3 - a design and technology consulting firm that helps companies use data and AI to work smarter and grow faster. We partner with marketing and technology leaders to solve real problems, improve operations, and create better digital experiences. With support from our dedicated AI practice, O3XO, we turn ideas into practical solutions that deliver results for your team and your customers. O3 is also the team behind the 1682 Conference, an AI and innovation conference that serves as an anchor for our thought leadership work.
Why we need you:
We're looking for experienced UX/UI designers to join our team as contractors. This role is for someone who can confidently move across the full design process, from understanding user needs and shaping thoughtful wireframes to creating polished visual designs and preparing work for successful development handoff.
This role will work closely with our researchers, developers, and project managers to solve real-world problems with our clients through innovative design solutions.
This is a work-from-home position.
Who you are:
  • A trusted partner who can be called upon on an as-needed basis to work on various UX/UI projects.
  • You're comfortable taking ambiguity and turning it into structure, whether that means defining user flows, creating wireframes, exploring visual directions, or refining detailed interface designs.
  • You have strong visual taste, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to design interfaces that feel polished, usable, and cohesive.
  • You're curious, adaptable, and open to feedback. You stay current with modern design tools and workflows, including emerging AI tools that can enhance research, ideation, documentation, and production.
  • You're a positive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and stays current with emerging AI technologies.
What you'll do:
  • Produce thoughtful, research-informed UX deliverables on a variety of projects.
  • Create polished visual design deliverables, including high-fidelity comps, UI kits, components, and design systems.
  • Guide work from early UX exploration through visual execution and development handoff.
  • Collaborate, interact, and present to clients in a confident, comfortable, and professional manner
  • Communicate cross-functionally with directors, project managers, researchers, developers, and other designers to solve challenging problems collaboratively.
  • Use modern design tools, including AI-assisted workflows where appropriate, to improve efficiency, exploration, documentation, and delivery.
What you need to be successful:
  • -7+ years of experience in UX, UI, product design, or a closely related field.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work across websites, applications, or digital products.
  • Professional experience creating detailed low-fidelity wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and information architecture deliverables.
  • A track record of producing high-quality UI design, including visual design exploration, high-fidelity screens, UI kits, and component-based systems.
  • Experience applying user research findings, analytics, stakeholder input, and/or usability insights to inform design decisions.
  • Strong visual design skills, including typography, layout, hierarchy, spacing, color, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, token-based thinking, and scalable file organization.
  • Comfort preparing design files for development handoff, including specs, annotations, interaction notes, and responsive behavior.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered tools and an understanding of how they can support design exploration, synthesis, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Motion graphics experience preferred, including animation, micro-interactions, and dynamic visual elements.
