User Generated Content Creator information

What is a user generated content creator?

A User Generated Content (UGC) Creator is someone who produces original content—such as videos, photos, reviews, or social media posts—about a brand, product, or service, typically as a consumer rather than a traditional influencer. UGC Creators are often hired by companies to make authentic, relatable content that resonates with their target audience. Unlike influencers, UGC Creators focus on storytelling and real-life experiences rather than growing a large personal following. Their content is used by brands in marketing campaigns to build trust and increase engagement. UGC is highly valued because it appears more genuine and trustworthy to potential customers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a user generated content creator?

To thrive as a User Generated Content Creator, you need strong storytelling abilities, creativity, and a solid understanding of digital platforms, typically supported by experience in content creation or digital marketing. Familiarity with video and photo editing tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) and knowledge of major social media platforms are essential. Excellent communication, adaptability, and audience engagement skills help creators stand out in a competitive landscape. These skills are crucial for producing authentic, high-quality content that resonates with audiences and drives engagement for brands or communities.

How do user generated content creators typically collaborate with marketing and product teams?

User Generated Content Creators often work closely with marketing and product teams to align their content with brand goals and messaging. They may participate in brainstorming sessions, receive briefs outlining campaign objectives, and provide feedback on what resonates with audiences. Regular communication ensures that their content supports product launches, promotions, and community engagement strategies. This collaborative structure helps creators stay informed about upcoming initiatives and produce relevant, impactful content.

Video Creator, User Generated Content and Social

StackAdapt

Job description

StackAdapt is looking for a Video Creator, User Generated Content (UGC) and Social to build a scrappy, always-on video engine that turns internet culture and AdTech news into content people actually stop scrolling for. This isn't a brand-video or sizzle-reel role - it's short-form, native, fast, and built for the feed. You'll script, shoot, edit, and often star in 3-4 videos a week across TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and LinkedIn, using data and a tight feedback loop with the digital performance team to decide what to make next.

You'll report to the Group Manager of Video Production and work in lockstep with StackAdapt's Principal Organic Brand & Social Marketing Manager, who sets editorial direction, channel priorities, and the weekly content slate. This role is built for someone who can move from idea to published video in 24-48 hours, working within a clear editorial direction rather than a committee.

This is an individual contributor role, ideally based within the Greater Toronto Area, but all candidates within Canada are welcome to apply and will be considered for the opportunity.

What You'll Be Doing:

Channel Expansion

  • Channel Expansion: Lead the launch of StackAdapt's TikTok channel and support expansion into Instagram, X, and Reddit in partnership with the organic brand and social manager.
  • Trend-Jacking & Ideation: Monitor daily viral formats, audio, and AdTech news to turn emerging internet culture into relevant brand and edutainment content within 24-48 hours.
  • Rapid Scripting & Production:
    • Script, film, and edit 3-4 short-form videos per week for 9:16 vertical feeds (TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn), translating StackAdapt's brand voice into feed-native formats.
    • Build a weekly content slate with the organic brand and social manager, balancing reactive trend content with planned campaign and product moments.
  • Hook Optimization: Front-load the first 2-3 seconds of every video with high-energy visual or audio hooks to prevent viewers from scrolling past.
  • On-Camera Talent & Direction: Host the majority of videos yourself, building a recognizable on-camera presence for StackAdapt, and direct internal employees as supporting talent.
  • Algorithm-Driven Iteration: Analyze and share retention curves, drop-off rates, and audience interactions to constantly test new editing styles, formats, and messaging.
What You'll Bring to the Table
  • Social-Native Portfolio: A public portfolio or personal platform handle showing strong performance on short-form videos (look for strong pacing and captions, not cinematic sizzle reels).
  • Speed Over Perfection Mindset: You've got a bias for shipping: you'd rather post a good video today than a perfect video next week.
  • B2B Translation: Ability to take technical programmatic advertising concepts (CTV, DSPs, contextual targeting) and make them entertaining and accessible.
  • Platform Fluency: Deep understanding of how algorithms rank content differently across LinkedIn vs. TikTok or Instagram.
  • Technical Versatility: Fluency in native editing tools (CapCut or similar); Premiere or After Effects.
  • Comfort working solo end-to-end: You can be the writer, camera operator, host, and editor on the same video.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
  • A consistent publishing cadence of 3-4 short-form videos a week, with a repeatable process from trend-spot to published post in 24-48 hours.
  • Clear, improving performance trends across hook retention, watch-through rate, and engagement, driven by a visible test-and-iterate process.
  • One or more recognizable recurring formats and a recognizable on-camera presence audiences associate with StackAdapt.
  • A track record of translating dense AdTech concepts (CTV, DSPs, contextual targeting) into content that performs with a broader, non-technical audience.
  • TikTok channel launched with a distinct content approach, with early traction informing expansion to new platforms.
