User Generated Content Creator information

What is a user generated content creator?

A User Generated Content (UGC) Creator is someone who produces original content—such as videos, photos, reviews, or social media posts—about a brand, product, or service, typically as a consumer rather than a traditional influencer. UGC Creators are often hired by companies to make authentic, relatable content that resonates with their target audience. Unlike influencers, UGC Creators focus on storytelling and real-life experiences rather than growing a large personal following. Their content is used by brands in marketing campaigns to build trust and increase engagement. UGC is highly valued because it appears more genuine and trustworthy to potential customers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a user generated content creator?

To thrive as a User Generated Content Creator, you need strong storytelling abilities, creativity, and a solid understanding of digital platforms, typically supported by experience in content creation or digital marketing. Familiarity with video and photo editing tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) and knowledge of major social media platforms are essential. Excellent communication, adaptability, and audience engagement skills help creators stand out in a competitive landscape. These skills are crucial for producing authentic, high-quality content that resonates with audiences and drives engagement for brands or communities.

How do user generated content creators typically collaborate with marketing and product teams?

User Generated Content Creators often work closely with marketing and product teams to align their content with brand goals and messaging. They may participate in brainstorming sessions, receive briefs outlining campaign objectives, and provide feedback on what resonates with audiences. Regular communication ensures that their content supports product launches, promotions, and community engagement strategies. This collaborative structure helps creators stay informed about upcoming initiatives and produce relevant, impactful content.

  • Own and evolve the organization's social content strategy, with a focus on storytelling, donor engagement, and awareness growth.

  • Concept and produce content from idea → shoot → edit → publish, either independently or with support.
  • Bring donor, recipient, and community stories to life in ways that feel authentic, emotional, and shareable.
  • Continuously test formats, hooks, and storytelling approaches to improve performance.
  1. Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partners with internal teams (marketing, field teams, partnerships) to uncover stories and align content with organizational priorities.
  • Provide creative direction and guidance to junior team members, freelancers, or agency partners as needed.
  • Act as the go-to social expert, elevating the team's understanding of what "great" looks like.

  1. Community & Engagement
  • Oversee day-to-day publishing and engagement for select Enterprise divisions, ensuring timely, thoughtful interaction with our audience.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen community connection through comments, DMs, and user-generated content.

  1. Performance & Optimization
  • Analyze content performance and translate insights into clear creative and strategic recommendations.
  • Track KPIs across platforms and continuously optimize for reach, engagement, and conversion.
  • Stay ahead of platform updates, trends, and emerging formats - and bring forward new ideas proactively.

  1. Content Capture & Field Work
  • Capture content in the field at blood drives, events, and key moments, with a focus on real, human storytelling.
  • Be comfortable operating in fast-moving environments and identifying stories in real time.

  • Makes recommendations to improve business unit practices and processes.
  • Any related duties as assigned.

  • 5+ years of experience in social media, content creation, or digital storytelling (brand, agency, or creator background).
  • Hands-on experience shooting and editing short-form video (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, etc.).
  • Experience leading content strategy or owning a content calendar at a brand or organization.

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the requirements above that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
